Reflection on Literary Analysis

Today was Thursday August 30th, 2018. Today’s weather was sunny all day. After my two o’clock class was dismissed, I decided it was best for me to stay home and be under the cold air conditioner in my room. On the way home from my last class of the day. I walked to the mom and pop bodega on 143rd street and broadway to pick up the daily Dominican Republic newspaper from the bodega. As I pick up the newspaper from the rack on display. Today’s front page story headline was the usual about how the laws going on in Haiti and Dominican Republic still aren’t changing. But what caught my attention about today’s newspaper was on the second page about the story about a young female my age in college is fighting for her rights for an education. Since her family can’t afford it. The education system is doing nothing to help her at all. My reaction towards reading the first half of the paragraph had me troubled the fact that no one in the Dominican Republic is helping her strive to get an education for herself. Shows the lack of assistance the government and the education system has for this female.

As I walk in my apartment and into my room. I turn on my laptop and toss the newspaper on my desk. I use my phone to listen to music and the first song that plays automatically is Hotel Sayre from the Great Gatsby movie but in instrumental the song plays. As I sit down next to my desk to look at today’s english assignment on my laptop. I start to fidget with the keyboard on my laptop thinking of ways to start my assignment. I look next to my laptop I see the newspaper I had tossed on my desk. I picked up the newspaper and continued to read where I have left off. While I read the newspaper I started to hum the song. As I finished reading the final words of the text on the newspaper. I dropped the newspaper on my desk and a lightbulb went off in my head.

I start to feel my fingers clicking on my laptop. My hand was like a brain itself already typing the words I wanted to say. As I type about today’s main situation in the world which is education because I myself am going through it on a daily and struggle with it. As I look at the image of the female on the newspaper she’s holding a poster she handmade saying in spanish “Yo soy mujer y humana yo tengo mis derechos también para tener una educación.” I translate it and process it in english for my understanding which says “I am a women and human. I myself have rights as well to have an education.” As I start to undertake the two images that professor Killebrew spoke about today on the two images which was Rockland’s painting and McCoy’s cartoon. I become conscious of the images that both females are congregating about a major issue that goes on today which is education. I continue to type on how education for myself while growing up hasn’t been a easy breeze. I look at the three images, as I look at the three images I start to see myself resemble into the images because as I evaluate my life into the education system and how I plan to take an advantage into my educational life.
